Eligibility Criteria

Primary Residence – first, your property must be your year-round primary residence and must be at least one year old.
​
Income Requirements – the adults living in your home must have a combined pre-tax annual income that meets certain thresholds. Here’s a breakdown of the income levels based on the number of people in your home:

Please note that Income Level 3 only applies to homes that are switching from natural gas, propane, or oil.
1. Property Value: for income levels 1 and 2, your property must have a total assessed value under $1,230,000 as listed by BC Assessment. If your home’s value is higher than that, you may still qualify under Income Level 3.

2. Utility Accounts: you must have a residential utility account with FortisBC, BC Hydro, or a local municipal utility.

3. Eligible Homes:

Single-family homes

Secondary suites in single-family homes that have separate utility meters

Permanently fixed mobile homes that have full plumbing, heating, electrical, and sewer connections

Duplexes, triplexes, row homes, or townhomes that have individual gas and electricity meters.
Heat Pump Grant is Available Until Funds Are Depleted!

The Grant has approximately $150 Million of Government funding and can cover upto 100% of your new heat pump and install including electrical upgrades.

Additional Requirements

The additional requirements include:

Rental Homes: renters will need a consent form from their landlord.

Energy Utility Bills: bills must be in the name of the homeowner or resident, not a strata corporation or landlord.

Pre-Registration: you can pre-register and obtain eligibility codes before upgrading.
